You are cordially invited to attend
A LECTURE SERIES SPONSORED BY THE
SLOAN CENTER FOR THEORETICAL NEUROBIOLOGY
"TOPICS IN NEUROSCIENCE"
to be held at
The Salk Institute for Biological Sciences
in San Diego, CA on
September 23 - 27, 1996
General Information
This one-week 'Topics in Neuroscience' lecture series was designed
specifically for trainees of the Sloan Centers for Theoretical
Neuroscience, but is open to all. The Sloan Centers (there are five:
Salk, Caltech, UCSF, Brandeis and NYU) were set up in part to provide
a route for people with formal training in mathematical and physical
sciences to enter the field of neuroscience. These lectures have been
designed to provide a general introduction to important topics in
neuroscience.
Lectures are intended to be broad and self-contained so that they are
accessible to listeners with no prior knowledge of the subject matter.
The general format will be 4 x 1.5 hr lectures per day, Mon-Fri, Sept 23-27,
with time between lectures for discussion and mingling (see schedule below
for details).
Registration
The lectures are open to all. If you plan to attend, please notify Margaret Mitchell (margaret@fechner.salk.edu) that you wish to register for the Sloan Conference. No registration fee is required. For Sloan Center Fellows and Guest Speakers a continental breakfast and lunch will be provided. It is important that you indicate that you are a Sloan Center Fellow on the email notification!
Contact Information
Please contact Margaret Mitchell (margaret@fechner.salk.edu) for further information about registration and accommodations, and Tony Zador (zador@sloan.salk.edu) for other information, or check out our website at http://www.sloan.salk.edu
